Directed by Darren Aronofsky, The Black Swan is scheduled for release on December 1, 2010. This realistic dramatic thriller is based on a story by Andres Heinz who co-wrote the Screenplay with Mark Heyman. Starring Mila Kunis, Natalie Portman and Vicent Cassel, The Black Swan by Darren Aronofsky is a detailed look into the lives of Ballet Students, Teachers and Stars. Combining a suspense filled love story, love triangle, physiological thriller with mythical intrigue, The Black Swan presents a true to life look at the the rigors of the Ballet.
The Makeup Department headed by Marjorie Durand, with Makeup Designer Judy Chin, Key Makeup Artist Todd Kleitsch, Prosthetic Makeup Designer Michael Marino, along with Assistant Makeup Effects Artist Emily Julia Jacobs and additional makeup by Rachel Geary successfully present the transformation of the characters while presenting a realistic view of the Ballet. With Lincoln Center as a backdrop, Mehron Makeup on the Ballet Stars dressing tables and the creative use of FX Makeup and Prosthetic additions, this team of Makeup Artists and Designers bring realism to the screen without overwhelming the story. The gradual transition of the characters by this makeup team is in tune with the story line, adding to the suspense and intrigue while maintaining the realism of those involved in the Production of the Ballet.
Mehron Makeup has been on the dressing room tables of hundreds of ballets over the last eight decades of producing the Professional Theatrical Makeup relied on by Professional Performers in all forms of live stage productions. The Set Directors and the Makeup Artist Team of The Black Swan are well aware of the significance of Mehron Makeup to the Ballet Dancer, as evidenced by their strategic placing of Mehron Makeup on the Dressing Room Tables throughout the film. Just as Ballet Dancers are familiar to the rehearsal halls of Lincoln Center, Mehron Makeup is a fixture in the dressing rooms of the Ballet Dancers.
The Black Swan will be opening at the 67th Venice International Film Festival which begins on September 1, 2010 with a cast rounded out by Winona Ryder, Toby Hemingway, Barbara Hershey and Janet Montgomery. Following the world premier at the 2010 Venice International Film Festival, The Black Swan will have a North American Debut at the Toronto Film Festival which begins on September 9, 2010. In time for the 2010 Oscar Season, The Black Swan should be in contention for a number of Oscar nominations including Makeup.
