Live Japanese Graffiti painting show

Some great stuff being done round the old Buxtons building at the moment. It’s too good for my ailing camera and the failing summer light to do justice to so go check it out for yourselves – and all done by the same bloke no less – imagine having a whole street to yourself to paint. Amazing.

‘Orb’ paintings by Masakatsu Sashie
Masakatsu Sashie’s fantastic “orb” paintings depict large, city-like spheres that float gently above the remains of a failed civilization. The giant orbs, which seem to be self-contained worlds unto themselves, are pieced together from the scraps of old Showa-period buildings and bits of consumer culture, such as vending machines, pachinko parlors, fast food signs, and video game components. Part retro and part sci-fi, the orbs appear to hover gracefully between the worlds of a nostalgic past and a dystopian future.

Antique Japanese Shikishi Art – Crane Bird Nihonga

This Japanese painting (nihonga) dates from the mid to late Japanese Showa period (1926-1989). The painting was done on a rectangular sheet of stiff Japanese shikishi paper with gold trim at the edges. This nihonga painting is in poor to fair condition with marks, stains and creases and is a wonderful candidate for framing and display.
Size:
Height: 10.5 inches (27.0 centimeters)
Width: 9.4 inches (24.0 centimeters)
