Body Painting with Air Brush Makeup

LUX Airbrush Makeup
Chicago Makeup Artist Mario Ink created the Avatar Image in the Mehron Ad using the 2009 Mehron Introduction LUX Airbrush Makeup. What distinguishes LUX Airbrush Makeup aside from being a Mehron Product that underwent intensive on the job trails and laboratory research is that it is a Vitamin Enriched, water and Green Tea Based Airbrush Makeup that is highly pigmented. Makeup Artist Mario Ink was one of the pre-market testers of LUX Airbrush at his Airbrush Academy in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

LUX Airbrush Makeup is specially formulated to be gentle on the skin while providing full, even coverage. With the advent of High Definition Cameras, the need for flawless coverage was evident. The Art of Avatar Makeup

Months before the release of Avatar the Mehron Blog told readers about the exciting changes that were coming in the use of Body Painting and Theatrical Makeup because of the release of this James Cameron classic. Since the release of Avatar, Makeup Artists around the world have become fascinated with the Avatar look and are adding their own artistic twists to the Avatar Look. At the recently completed 2010 Halloween & Party Expo held in Houston, Jinny Houle, while demonstrating the use of Paradise Makeup AQ, was caught by the cameras of the Houston Chronicles with her version of Avatar. Jinny turned Model Sindy Perez into an Avatar and was featured in the Houston Chronicle. out of the hundreds of photos of Makeup and Costumes that the Houston Chronicle reporter and photographer could have chosen to use in their feature story about the 2010 Halloween & Makeup Expo held in Houston, they chose to use Sindy Perez with her Avatar Look created by Jinny Houle

On Body Painting Makeup Artist Web Sites versions of Avatars are appearing daily. Some Artists are just honing their skills, some are adding their personal twists to the Avatar look and some are wondering if their Avatar is a better interpretation of what James Cameron had in mind for Avatar. Avatar is only the beginning of an exciting new wave in Theatrical Makeup Application, it is the joining of Body Painting Makeup Art and Theatrical Makeup Art, the next generation of film and video that will be spawned by the release of Avatar will demand full body makeup coverage applied by masters of Body Painting Makeup with understanding of Theatrical Makeup. Three Dimension film and video will require that all Makeup Applications be complete, front, back and sides. It will require Makeup that provides a flawless coverage with a depth of color that is consistent day in and day out during the production.

In 2009, Mehron introduced to the public LUX Airbrush Makeup at the 2009 Halloween & Party Expo. The introduction LUX Airbrush Makeup by Mehron was in anticipation of what would be demanded by Makeup in the age of High Definition Video and Film, and Three Dimension Video and Film. In an interview with a makeup trade magazine in 2008 Martin Melik, the President of Mehron Makeup hinted at the coming evolution of Makeup without giving away the secret that LUX Airbrush Makeup was about to be introduced. LUX Airbrush Makeup provides everything that the Film and Video Industry will require for the new standard in high definition and three dimensional productions. Although LUX Airbrush Makeup provides the true, consistent depth of color that the future requires, it is also naturally based, infused with vitamins and is water resistant for durability during long days on the set. With its natural base of Green Tea and Vitamins, it will not damage the performers skin even when worn for those ten hour days.

Mario Ink, a Chicago,IL based Makeup Artist who is an Airbrush Makeup Specialist also shared his version of Avatar which he created using LUX Airbrush Makeup. Mario Ink had the benefit of being privy to LUX Airbrush Makeup before it was introduced to the public in 2009. LUX Airbrush Makeup was made available by Mehron to his Airbrush Academy in Chicago. His intricate knowledge of LUX Airbrush Makeup combined with his natural Air Brush Makeup Skills enable Mario to produce subtle changes in hues even while using the same color of LUX Airbrush Makeup in his Airbrush Gun. Mehron would like to thank Mario Ink for sharing his talents with Mehron fans by providing Mehron with the use of his Avatar created with LUX AirBrush Makeup and looks forward to seeing more of his work throughout 2010.

Looking for a New Career?

The Future of Makeup and Makeup CareersWith layoffs continuing at a record pace, many people find themselves out of work in their chosen profession and accepting work in any field just to earn an income. Others take their layoff as an opportunity to pursue a different avenue in life by returning to school to master a new profession. With a downturn in advertising, graphic design artists are especially hard hit along with writers and photographers. Manufacturing job losses are the ones that make the headlines, just as many jobs that require an artistic ability are being lost to this recession. When a manufacturing job, the employee is sent for retraining, with the retraining usually being in another aspect of manufacturing, the same for a service industry job. For those that use their artistic acumen to maintain their income, retraining is not as easy. The source of their abilities comes from an innate perception that leads to their creative talents, it is not an abilities that can be retrained, but it can be redirected in particular instances.

As this recession winds its way back up to a normal economy, jobs will be created by new demands. Even if the Advertising Industry will never again have the same demand for artistic talent, other industries will. Because of exciting changes in the world of makeup, a demand for a new bred of creative talent is being created. High Definition video has created a demand for a new makeup and makeup application, Lux Airbrush Makeup fills the need created for a superior airbrush makeup, the need for the creative makeup artists will be filled by the ranks of the artistically inclined. The release of James Cameron's Avatar is a pivotal event in the world of Film Makeup. The 3-Dimension presentation of Avatar will become the first of many such film presentations which will create a need for more talented artistic makeup artists. The Airbrush Makeup Artist is destined to be an essential Artist on the film sets of the very near future. As video presentation continues to evolve, so too will the demand for the talents of Makeup Artists in many specialties.

The Face Painting Makeup Artists, Body Painting Makeup Artists, Airbrush Makeup Artists, Fashion Makeup Artists, and Special Effects Makeup Artists are all specialties that will be in demand as the technology of performance continues to advance. The Makeup Artists of the future will not only have to understand color balance and detail, they will also l have to posses a natural artistic vision for creating living art on the face and body of the performers and models on whom they work.

Mehron, Leaders in Theatrical Makeup since 1927, has seen the future of the creative demands of Makeup. In 2009, Mehron began introducing the Makeup of the Future with the release of LUX Airbrush Makeup along with many new introductions in the world of Fashion Makeup. Mehron continues to prepare for the future with research that will continue to produce the Makeup that the future demands, just as they have since 1927. Mehron Makeup will continue to produce the Makeup of the Future in the USA from selected ingredients and free from animal testing. The Performance Industry will create the demand for the Makeup Artist specialist, Mehron will create the superior Makeup needed to complete the task. The question now is will there be enough artistic talent ready to meet the demand.

The Artistry of Special Effects Makeup

Airbrush Makeup Artist Cheryl Vaughn creates with LUX Airbrush MakeupArguably all Theatrical Makeup is essentially Special Effects Makeup. Special Effects Makeup Artists might agree or disagree but in the Modern Era of Theatrical Makeup Artistry, Special Effects Makeup is a uniquely specialized field. As the complexities of production have grown with technological advances Special Effects Makeup application has evolved into a craft that has specific sub specialties. There are Special Effects Makeup Artists who are specialists in creating prosthetic pieces, those that specialize in attaching prosthetic and even those who special in making prosthetic applications out of certain materials. For many decades the Makeup Artist on a movie set did it all, even hand making the makeup in the very early days of film creation. The art of Theatrical Makeup has now progressed to the point that specialists are brought in to a production for a specific makeup talent that they posses, it may be an expert at Mask Covering, a Mask Creator, a Latex Artist and now Body Painting Makeup Artists and face Painting Makeup Artists are in demand as Airbrush Makeup becomes the norm.

The upcoming James Cameron Film, Avatar, billed as the first fully three dimensional film will highlight the Airbrush Specialty of Makeup Artistry along with every other discipline in Special Effects Makeup. The screening of Avatar is only the beginning for the the specialty of Special Effects Makeup Artists who are proficient in Airbrush Makeup Application. As a technological advancement in Film Production Avatar is being touted as the revolutionary beginning to a new vision of film making. From the perspective of the Artistry of Special Effects Makeup, Avatar will be the beginning of a new demand of talent for Makeup Artists. Theatrical Makeup Artists will meet the new challenges presented by the close up high definition three dimensional filming that will define the next era in the history of film.

It is fitting that Avatar is being released in 2009, the 70th Anniversary of the release of the Wizard of Oz, which was revolutionary advancement in Theatrical Makeup. Seventy years does seem like a long time when you think that seventy years ago Theatrical Makeup for color film production was an experiment that did not always work well. The Wizard of Oz Production has its share of Makeup snafus, including almost killing the original Actor who was to play the Tin Man, Buddy Ebsen. Today creating a Tin Man would be as simple as filling up an Airbrush Makeup gun with LUX Airbrush Makeup a green tea based liquid makeup and airbrushing the Tin Man with a Makeup that would not only not threaten his health but would actually be gentle and hydrating to his skin. Theatrical Makeup has come a long way from the days of making silver makeup by using real aluminum powder that was ingested by the Actor till now when a naturally based vitamin enriched airbrush makeup can be used.

Airbrush Makeup may be the next progression in the specialty of Special Effects Makeup, it is unlikely that it will be the last. As the art of the three dimensional film grows to become the norm in theatrical releases, the Special Effects Makeup Artists will develop techniques to match the demand created by the format. The demands placed upon Special Effect Makeup Artist will again create an army of talented Special Effects Makeup Artists who will use their skills to meet the need with innovative imagination and skilled artistry. Mehron Special Effects Makeup will be a ready tool for the next wave of Special Effects Makeup Artists just as it has been through over eighty years of innovative Makeup exploration. Avatar may be the next pivotal Film in the history of film, LUX Airbrush Makeup is already the future of Special Effects Makeup.

Makeup from Oz to Avatar

Mehron Theatrical Makeup since 1927
In August of 1939 Mehron Makeup was in the midst of its twelfth year of operations. On August 17,1939 at the Lowes Capitol Theater located at 1645 Broadway in New York City, The Wizard of Oz opened only blocks away from Mehron Melik's Theatrical Makeup Company. The Lowes Capitol Theater was a showcase for MGM Film releases in New York City. Attendees of the Lowes Capitol Theater were treated to a stage show along with an MGM release. Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney appeared in the stage show that was presented during the run of The Wizard of Oz at this landmark theater that opened in 1919, one of the few Theater Palaces that predates the foundation of Mehron Makeup.

In 2009, as The Wizard of Oz celebrates the 70th Anniversary of its release Mehron is entering their 83rd year in the production of high quality Theatrical Makeup. In 1939 the Wizard of Oz was a ground breaking event in the world of film, from the Special Effects to the Makeup, The Wizard of Oz established loftier goals for the Movie Industry. In 2009, seventy years after its New York City release, The Wizard of Oz remains a timeless movie classic. Filmed with an unheard of budget at the time The Wizard of Oz was a Technicolor challenge for the Makeup Artist, Jack Dawn, who would later head the MGM Makeup Department. The Theatrical Makeup Industry was meeting the new challenges presented by Hollywood in the 1920's through the 1930's, men like Jack Dawn and Mehron Melik found their roles interchangeable during this infancy stage of film makeup. Makeup Artist also became Makeup Manufacturers and Makeup Manufacturers were also Makeup Artists. During this time of Makeup experimentation the men who were contemporaries often shared ideas and helped each other solve problems.

Mr. Dawn encountered his share of problems during the extravagant production of the Wizard of Oz including the almost fatal poisoning of the original Tin Man, Buddy Ebsen by the aluminum powder that was used as his makeup for his role as the Tin Man. Mr. Ebsen was mysteriously replaced in the role of the Tin Man by Jack Haley, who like most of the other cast members at the time did not know why Buddy Ebsen was replaced. In consultations with his contemporaries Mr. Dawn came upon the solution to create the aluminum look for the tin man by mixing the aluminum powder with a paste so that Mr. Hailey would not breathe in the dust and become ill in the same way as Mr. Ebsen. It was also suggested that Jack Hailey have a layer of Clown Makeup applied as a foundation to protect his skin before the application of the aluminum paste that Mr. Dawn had created after consulting with other Makeup Men throughout the country. Unlike 2009 when Shrek the Musical needs a particular green for their favorite Orge, all they did was call Mehron and have it made, the Makeup Inventors of 1939 found and made their own makeup solutions.

An American axiom that rings true for the Film Industry is that necessity is the mother of invention. Seventy years after the creation of the American Film Classic, The Wizard of Oz, James Cameron needed to invent technology in order to put his vision on film. Avatar, scheduled for release in December 2009 will be the first fully three dimensional film ever released. Tired of waiting for three dimensional film technology to catch up with his vision, Mr. Cameron invented his own three dimensional camera equipment to finally film the idea that has been in his mind for fifteen years. Avatar is already being proclaimed as the new milestone in film making, just as seventy years ago, The Wizard of Oz raised the bar of achievement in the industry, in 2009 Avatar is expected to do the same.

In 1927 Mehron Melik handcrafted a Theatrical Makeup that set the bar of achievement for Theatrical Makeup, for over eight decades Mehron has been raising that bar with new innovations in color, ingredients, pigmentation and durability in the quest for the safest, most colorfast, vibrant, easy to apply and easy to remove Theatrical Makeup. Mehron Makeup was 12 years old when Jack Dawn worked on The Wizard of Oz, and was already producing a quality line of specialty makeup for theatrical productions, Circuses, Opera, Dance, Vaudeville, Burlesque and film. James Cameron's Film Avatar not only sets a new bar for future filming, it also sets a new bar for a Makeup that can provide the coverage that a three dimensional presentation will require. Mehron has already begun to meet the new challenges that future film techniques will demand of Theatrical Makeup with their 2009 introduction of the naturally based, full coverage Air Brush Makeup, LUX Airbrush Makeup, currently available in over a dozen dynamic colors. Unlike 1939, if the film industry needs a new color, new product or a solution, Mehron Makeup is only a phone call away ready to produce the product that is needed just as they have from the release of The Wizard of Oz through the coming release of Avatar.

The Challenge Of The Future for Makeup Artists

20th Century Fox 3-D Movie by John Cameron,AvatarJohn Cameron's Avatar is touted as the future of cinema. Scheduled for release in December, Avatar will be be a 3-D. The John Cameron version of 3-D will be different than the occasional object flying at the audience. The entire screen will be 3-D throughout the entire movie. With technology lagging behind his vision, John Cameron took it upon himself to develop the camera equipment necessary to present his cinematic version of a 3-D film. Armed with an over 200 million dollar budget, Mr. Cameron has undertaken an ambition that he has had for over fifteen years.

The movie industry is anxiously awaiting the premier of Avatar, whispers throughout the industry are that this film will revolutionize films just as the switch from black and white television to color television programing changed the face of television.

This film revolution will affect all the crafts associated with creating a film, from the new technology that camera people will need to learn to the set creators to the Makeup Artist. Makeup Artists are already in the midst of adjusting to the detail needed for high definition video and film, now with the introduction of 3-D Makeup Artists will be adjusting again to compensate for the three dimensional presentation of the characters that they create with the magic of makeup. Airbrush Makeup, already becoming the standard in the film industry for all film will take another turn to accommodate the extra detailed required by 3-D film. In 2009 Mehron, Leaders in Professional Performance Makeup since 1927, introduced LUX Airbrush Makeup, a naturally based, enriched, highly pigmented airbrush makeup with the full, consistent pigmentation required for High Definition Film and Video.

LUX Airbrush Makeup has been embraced by all disciplines under the banner of Makeup Artist, including, Body Painters, Face painters, Theater Makeup Artists, and Special Effects Makeup Artists.

Special Effects Makeup Artists will have new challenges when creating their characters as a more comprehensive view of the character will have to be considered for every scene. The same short cuts used in film will no longer be available for the Special Effects Makeup Artists as the entire character will be seen in the new 3-D Film. Avatar will be the example of the future of the Makeup Artists in the Film Industry.

Just as it has for the last eight decades, Mehron will be ready to meet the challenge of the Makeup Future that the advent of 3-D Film presents. Being the innovators of the Makeup of the Future is nothing new for Mehron. Mehron has grown from the early days of Silent Films to the introduction of the next film revolution with the introduction of Avatar. The artistic endeavors and visions of the Makeup Artists of the Future will find the tools, colors, and makeup products they need from Mehron, the innovators of makeup produced in the USA, free from animal testing since 1927.

LUX Airbrush is Sweeping the Makeup World

Model Trisha Martens Painted by Body Painting Artist Donna Nowak with Lux Airbrush MakeupAlmost six months ago Mehron introduced a green tea based, vitamin enriched Air Brush Makeup to the public after much research and selected use by Makeup Artists across various disciplines of the Makeup World. Only six months later Makeup Artists around the world are commenting on the beautiful color spectrum of the currently released LUX Airbrush Makeup. The recently concluded 2009 World Bodypainting Festival marks the half way point on the 2009 Makeup Shows, Conventions, and Festivals for the season. LUX Airbrush Makeup has been introduced at all the major 2009 International Makeup gatherings and the response from Makeup Artists around the world is very positive.

Makeup Artists are commenting about the free, easy flow of LUX Airbrush Makeup through the airbrush gun, the rich, vibrant, alluring colors, and the wonderful fragrance. In a recent email addressed to the President of Mehron, International Artist Donna Nowak of Show Offs Body Art wrote, "Even Trisha (referring to her model, Trisha Martens) made a comment about the wonderful smell also - not the pharmacy smell that many have." Not only does Mehron LUX Airbrush Makeup smell better than the other brands of Air Brush Makeup that are currently available, but the chemists at Mehron formulated Lux Airbrush to be safer and gentler on the skin, a great benefit to the models who willingly have their entire bodies covered in air brush makeup. Because LUX Airbrush Makeup has a green tea base and is viamin enriched the possibilities of any kind of skin irritations and or allergic reaction or damage are drastically reduced to almost 0%. With the enriching vitamins being absorbed by the skin, the natural anti-oxidants of the vitamins prevent skin damage.

Throughout the 2009 Makeup Shows, Conventions and Festivals that have occurred to date, Makeup Artists from all over the globe have been commenting on the even flow, consistent color, and durable application of LUX Airbrush. To check if an Authorized Mehron Dealer has stocked LUX Airbrush Makeup in your area check the Find a Dealer link on the Mehron Web Site.
