Makeup for Clowns in Training

Now that the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College® has closed its doors, clowns must find regional schools or transient seminars to hone their craft. For beginner Clowns, makeup is an important craft that must be learned in order to be an effective clown. Centuries ago the Jester was the equivalent of the clown. The Jester wore unusual hats or over sized clothing to emphasise the point that he was "clowning around". Clowning is serious business with Clown Schools all around the world teaching the art of clowning.

For students of clowning, Mehron still produces the palette 5-Color Palette w/Yellow Kit and the 5-Color Palette w/Auguste Kit that they produced excllusively for the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College® at their request. These are the exact same palettes of Clown makeup that every incoming freshman was required to have at the Greatest Show on Earth's Clown College. Unless you are in your late eighties, the Clown Makeup that you have seen on the clowns throughout your life at the the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus was Mehron Clown Makeup. In fact when the Greatest Show on Earth use to make its way to New York City, the current President of Mehron, Martin, son of the Founder of Mehron was assigned to hand deliver the Clown Makeup to the waiting clowns.

Although Clowns in training no longer have the benefit of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College®, they still have the benefit of the same Clown Makeup that the instructors felt was the best Clown Makeup on Earth for the Clowns of the Greatest Show on Earth. Even if you are not in training to be a Professional Clown and you do some volunteer clowning for the kids in hospitals or orphanages, or community events, you can have the benefits of the Clown makeup that was sought by the Clowns we all knew and grew up with in the the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown Circus.
