The Nominees for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards were announced today. Not surprising the James Cameron three dimension "Avatar" was nominated in numerous categories, including, Cinematography, Art Direction, Directing, Film Editing, Music (Original Score), Best Picture and Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, and Visual Effects. What is surprising is that Avatar was not Nominated for Makeup. The Makeup of Avatar is certainly a hit with Makeup Artists around the world if not with members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Even without an Oscar Nomination the Makeup Artist Team of "Avatar" is to be commended on the outstanding Makeup, Special Effects Makeup and Prosthetic Work that bring the characters of "Avatar" to life in the three dimension classic by James Cameron.
There were three Nominees in the Category of Makeup for the 2010 Academy Award. For the Film, "Il Divo", Aldo Signoretti and Vittorio Sodano were nominated. Barney Burman, Mindy Hall, and Joel Harlow were Nominated for their Makeup in the Film, "Star Trek". Rounding out the 2010 Academy Award Nominees in the Makeup Category for their Makeup expertise in the film, "The Young Victoria", the nominees are Jon Henry Gordon and Jenny Shircore.
Mehron Makeup congratulates Aldo Signoretti, Vittorio, Barney Burman, Mindy Hall, Joel Harlow, Jon Henry Gordon, and Jenny Shircore for their the 2010 Oscar Nominations in Makeup. Without the talents of the Makeup Artist even the finest Theatrical Makeup like that produced by Mehron since 1927 would not be effective. It is the artistic vision and talents of the hard working Makeup Artists throughout the Theatrical World that bring Characters to life to portray the script and fulfill the Directors Vision. Mehron Makeup, applied behind the scenes comes to life in front of the audience through the talents and artistic vision of the Makeup Artist.
